ten.0427_00021305.jpgImmunity to COVID-19. People who've recovered from the virus may have it, but scientists don't know how effective the antibodies are and how long they last. Last week, herd immunity was discussed. It's when a majority of a population has immunity to a virus, and governments are looking to that for safety in the absence of a vaccine or cure. There have been many Apollo missions, but none of their astronauts had a map. Now, the USGS and NASA have created a comprehensive lunar map for use in future missions. Remember the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics a few years back? Well, ice fishing isn't an Olympic sport, but it is popular in South Korea. In the winter when ice freezes over, holes are dug in the ice, and farm-raised trout are poured in for people to fish.

ten.0428_00013225.jpgIn Spain, children can finally go back outside again. The country had been on lockdown, with adults only allowed to go to the store or pharmacy. Now, kids can play outside again - with restrictions, of course. They can only be outside for one hour, can't play with neighbors, and parks are still closed. But life is picking back up there, just like in Wuhan, China, the original epicenter of COVID-19. CNN reporters returned there, and while many businesses are closed, many are reopening, and the city is showing signs of bustling once more. Did you know that old typewriter users were taught to use 2 spaces at the end of sentences? That's because all the letters were typed the same size, and it made the ends of sentences more distinguishable. Now, letters are different sizes, so that is no longer needed and the recommended approach is one space. In fact, the latest version of Microsoft Word even marks you wrong if you use two spaces!

Antibody testing can see whether you've had a disease by seeing if you have antibodies for it. It can be useful in creating vaccines and who is immune. Also, once a government knows who had it, they can track down people that they met and places they went in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. One of the top countries for this is South Korea, which even has an app for seeing identified cases. The Pentagon released UFO footage today. They were 3 videos taken years back that caused much speculation as to what they were. The military released the videos to end the guessing and to encourage pilots to report suspicious flying objects. We've explored everywhere, right? Not the deep sea. That's what the Exosuit could help us do. It looks like a giant, oversized wetsuit, and it can go as deep as 1000 feet without the person inside feeling the pressure. It is made for working, so it is fairly flexible, with graspers on the ends of the hands.

COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the economy. The US GDP has dropped by the highest percentage since the 2008 Great Recession. This isn't just because of the halt in manufacturing. It is boosted by the decrease in consumer spending, which is the biggest factor in US GDP. Another surfacing problem is unemployment. With people under stay at home orders, small businesses are going out of business and laying off workers. Even when businesses do reopen, they'll be running at less than full capacity due to social distancing. Experts say it will be difficult for the economy to get back to where it was and for people to get jobs back. Scientists have recently developed a glowing plant. It is a tobacco plant that uses mushroom enzymes to produce its own light. The researchers say that it could be useful for studying how plants work and decoration. Our last stop is in New Jersey, where a man has created a massive, running miniature train collection.

Across the US, many businesses are planning to reopen in the coming days. However, the outlook for schools is more complicated. Most say that they will be closed for the remainder of the school year and potentially into the fall, while other schools in states with lower numbers of cases could reopen. Colleges have been in a state of confusion as well. Students and staff have little knowledge about how next year will look, and presidents are looking into ways of reopening safely. These include testing, spread out classes, and contact tracing. Airplanes have gotten a lot more complicated since the days of just stick, throttle, and rudder. They now have fully functional displays, an array of knobs and dials, and side sticks. Speaking of flying, a helicopter named Ingenuity will be going to Mars in the 2020 NASA Mars mission. Its sole purpose is to see if it works, and it will be accompanied by a rover called Perseverance.
